Emmanuel Katto - Business in the Digital Era: An Analysis from Uganda’s Perspective

With the growing technology, things are getting advanced with the advanced lifestyle. Technology also impacts businesses and industry’s fashion. I’m Emmanuel Katto prominently known as Emmanuel Katto Uganda or Emka Emmanuel Katto, a local Ugandan journalist. I keep track of the latest stories and news related to Africa and Uganda with a little more emphasis. Today I will tell you about how business is getting fashioned or is getting impacted in the digital era.

As in the era of digitalization, cloud computing is emerging, it is in a way transforming the way businesses operate as it provides a scalable, flexible, cost-effective way to store, manage and access the data and applicants. The conventional sought of business is now getting digitalized.

Businesses in Uganda are spending more funds on systems and technologies that keep them ahead of the curve and enable them to succeed in the present business environment. The country tends to adopt computers and the internet, e-commerce, cloud computing, and now the latest ChatGPT, which all seem to be emerging.

While many businesses and firms have found it simple, flexible, and revolutionary to have access to digital communication and marketing methods, data storage and access to historical records continue to be significant barriers. Fortunately, cloud computing seems to be a reliable solution for the same. Thanks to cloud computing, businesses may now increase productivity while spending less on capital projects.

To provide quicker innovation, flexible resources, and scale economies, Microsoft is one of the world's leading providers of cloud computing, describes it as the distribution of computing services via the Internet, encompassing servers, storage, databases, networking, software, analytics, and intelligence, etc. With it, local firms or businesses can now take advantage of the cloud's power to manage and store their data, get instant access to processing power, and scale their operations as they expand.

Also, without having to worry about external borders or the underlying infrastructure, businesses can simply scale their operations up or down to suit client demands thanks to cloud computing and data servicing. This implies that companies can expand without having to invest more money in capital projects, which can be a big financial burden for many companies.

Cloud technology in a way benefits businesses by reducing IT costs, improving security, and providing data services for better decision-making.

Thus, systematic utilization of technology always benefits businesses. Cloud computing, internet, e-commerce, and ChatGPT, such technology holds the capability in boosting the ongoing business and trade in Uganda.
